Study shows Texas Workers' Compensation costs among the highest of all states

A recent study by the Workers Compensation Research Institute shows that Texas Workers' Compensation costs remain among the highest in the nation.

The WCRI study showed that the cost per Workers' Compensation claim in Texas remained among the highest of the states in the study between 2001 and 2002. The average cost per claim in Texas ($5,938) was 76 percent above the median in the study of 12 large states conducted annually by WCRI. Texas medical costs per claim were the highest of the 12 large states studied. Texas employees received temporary disability benefits 50% longer than in any of the other states studied.

A summary of the study is available here. The full study is available only to subscribers.
